Mail on OS X - Tiger

Follow the tutorial below to set up your email program.
|
|
- Server Settings -
|
|
Username:
|
Full Email Address
|
|
Password:
|
Case Sensitive
|
|
Incoming Server:
|
mail.columbiainet.com
|
|
Outbound Server:
|
mail.columbiainet.com
|
|
Outbound server requires authentication
|
|
|

1. Find the Mail icon located on your dock and click on it.
|
|
|
2. The account setup wizard will open, click Continue.
|
|
3. General Information- Account Type: POP
- Account Description: you@columbiainet.com
- Full Name: First/Last Name
- Email Address: you@columbiainet.com
When done, click Continue.

4. Incoming Mail Server- Incoming Mail Server: mail.columbiainet.com
- User Name: you@columbiainet.com
- Password: your password
When done, click Continue.

5. Outgoing Mail Server- Outgoing Mail Server: mail.columbiainet.com
- Use Authentication is required.
- User Name: you@columbiainet.com
- Password: your password
When done, click Continue.

6. Account Summary- Account Description: you@columbiainet.com
- Full Name: First/Last Name
- Email Address: you@columbiainet.com
- User Name: you@columbiainet.com
- Incoming Mail Server: mail.columbiainet.com
SSL: off - Outgoing Mail Server: mail.columbiainet.com
SSL: off When done, click Continue.

7. Conclusion. Click Done
|
|
|
8. Open Mail, click the Mail menu and select Preferences.
|
|
9. Select the Accounts button then click Advanced. Check the 3rd box down, Remove copy from server after retrieving a message in the drop down box below choose Right away.
Make sure Authentication is set to Password.
Close this window, and when prompted, choose Save.
